Blog for Friday 9^th May 2025

The children have been working so brilliantly in English. They have been writing a biography about Malala Yousafzai. It has been wonderful to see how engaged the children have been throughout the piece of writing. They have used several techniques such as alliteration, fronted adverbials and repetition to bring the story of Malala to life.

This week, we came to the end of our measurement topic in maths. The children have developed in confidence when it comes to identifying and measuring in grams, kilograms, millilitres, litres and finding the temperature. Our next topic will be fractions!

In science, we started our new topic of ‘Plants’. We planted five pots of cress seeds. However, only one of the pots has all four things plants need to grow (water, light, soil and the right temperature). The other four pots all have one of those things missing. We are interested to find out which pots end up growing healthily!

Last week, the children began their swimming lessons at Latchmere. They behaved brilliantly and enjoyed showing off their swimming skills. Sarah, the swimming teacher, was very impressed! It’ll be wonderful to see how they progress over the course of this term.
