Blog for Friday 9th May 2025
As ever, it has been a busy couple of weeks in the Year 6 classroom, with the children fully embracing the school values of ‘Perseverance’ and ‘Grit’. This has been evident through activities such as answering the big question ‘Is renewable energy the answer?’ in science; evaluating the impact of damming rivers in geography; justifying why the resurrection is important to Christians in RE, and classifying triangles to find unknown angles in maths. Not only this, but they had a Mock SATs week thrown in for good measure to prepare them for next week’s formal SATs, where we know that they will shine!
Participating in last week’s mini-marathon, singing away during our Wizard of Oz practice and decorating VE bunting for the Bentalls Centre has offered a welcome balance.
During a printing workshop at Orleans House Gallery earlier in the week, the class experimented with a technique called collagraph printing. A collagraph is essentially a collage of materials of various textures glued on to a printing plate, often a thin wood or cardboard. The plate is inked up, usually by hand, and then printed on to paper either manually or via a press.
