What a wonderful week back after our bank holiday weekend! Our book of the week has been ‘What the Ladybird heard’. In our small world area, we have enjoyed playing with the book scene and making the cheeky thieves full into the pond. We wrote a full sentence in our English books about the sounds the animals made and practised writing our tricky word ‘said’! We have worked really hard on our letter formation and finger spaces.
In maths we have been looking at patterns and halving and doubling and how this can be known as multiplying by 2. We noticed that halving and doubling are opposites of each other and we then tested this by looking at some ladybird’s spots. We doubled them and then halved them to see what numbers we could make!
In phonics we are really getting into the trickiest of the tricky words! We are ensuring that they don’t trick us into spelling them the way that they sound. We are particularly good at ‘sure’ – we know there is an invisible ‘h’ to make the ‘sh’ sound.
