Blog for Friday 23rd May 2025
It has been a busy couple of weeks in Year 2.
On Friday 9th May, Year 2 took the bus to Kew Gardens to take part in a Plant Scientist workshop. Within this workshop, the children carried out several activities. It was fascinating to look at plants underneath a microscope. The children even tried to see if we could spot the pollen! We enjoyed creating botanical drawings of plants and learning about seed dispersal too.
In English, the children have finished our biography writing about the hugely inspiring Malala Yousafzai. In total, we split her life up into six key sub headings including early life, life in school and Malala’s achievements. This week, the children have been writing their biographies up in neat.
Fractions is our new topic in maths. So far, the children have been getting to grips with equal and unequal parts. As well as this, they have been using language such as numerator and denominator when talking about halves, thirds and quarters.
Much of our time has been spent rehearsing our class assembly. The children have worked so hard with learning their lines and have enjoyed showcasing what they have been learning about over the last few weeks. Well done for being brilliant Year 2!
